Clubs and community organisations have an important role to play in keeping people safe and helping to safeguard children and adults from harm.
This section sets out some safeguarding essentials. It provides guidance, resources and links to expert organisations such as the Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) and Ann Craft Trust to help organisations:
- understand safeguarding legislation
- create an open and safe culture
- ensure they have the right policies and procedures in place and that people know what to do if they have a concern
- adopt processes to safely recruit paid staff and volunteers and understand any of their training requirements.
Clubs and community organisations can play a vital role in supporting people’s mental health and wellbeing.
The guidance provided in this section is designed to help you understand how to have conversations and positively support people to manage their mental health and wellbeing.
