Inclusive values and practices sit at the heart of many successful clubs and community organisations. These organisations understand how to meet the needs of a diverse range of people and create opportunities for everyone to take part, or volunteer, in a place where they feel included, welcomed and valued.
However, barriers still exist, particularly for those who have one or more protected characteristic(s). These barriers can influence whether or not people continue to take part, or volunteer, in sport and physical activity and benefit from doing so.
It’s therefore vital that organisations know how to create inclusive environments, provide accessible opportunities and respond appropriately if any form of discriminatory behaviour occurs.
To support people in doing this, we’ve created a series of scenarios designed to help you and your organisation better meet the needs of different people and respond appropriately to any challenges that may be faced.
Each scenario covers a different topic, including: disability, economic exclusion, ethnicity, faith groups and rural exclusion, with scenarios on LGBTQ+ and women and girls coming soon.
